Reviews Policy
Last Updated November 2025
TL;DR
We love hearing your genuine feedback! To keep things honest and helpful for everyone, here are our house rules:
-
Only real reviews: Reviews must be based on your actual experience. We strictly prohibit fake reviews.
-
We don't filter: We aim to publish all genuine feedback, good or not-so-good, provided it meets our guidelines. We don't suppress negative reviews or cherry-pick only the best ones.
-
We're proactive (but sometimes need help): We take steps to prevent fake/misleading content. For reviews on our site, we remove banned content ourselves. For third-party sites, our action is to report the banned content to their admin teams and ask for its removal.

1. Our Commitment to Genuine Feedback
At Good Goods, we believe in radical honesty and we rely on genuine customer reviews to help us, and other customers, make great choices. This Reviews Policy sets out our clear commitment to transparency and fairness in line with consumer protection laws.
1.1. What we strive for
We aim to ensure that all customer reviews and aggregated review information (like star ratings and average scores) published on our Platforms are:
-
Genuine: Based on a person’s real experience with our products or service.
-
Unbiased: Not concealing any incentive or payment that influenced the review.
-
Not misleading: Presented fairly and without suppressing negative sentiment.
1.2. Our platforms
This policy applies to all consumer reviews and consumer review information that we publish or display on platforms we control or influence (collectively, our "Platforms"). Our ability to directly moderate, edit, or remove content varies significantly by Platform:
|
Platform Category |
Example Sites |
Our Level of Control |
|
Owned & fully controlled |
Our Website (via Yotpo) |
High. We directly manage, moderate, and publish or reject content before it appears on our site. |
|
Moderation Access |
Trustpilot, Product Review, Google Reviews |
Medium. We have access to moderate content and can submit requests for the removal of "banned content" to the platform's admin teams. Final removal is at the platform's discretion. |
|
Organic & third-party |
Amazon Reviews |
Low/None. These reviews are governed 100% by the third party's own terms and policies. Our action is limited to using the platform's official reporting/flagging mechanisms. |
2. The Rules: Prohibited Content & Non-Negotiables
To protect our community, we have a zero-tolerance policy for banned content. It is automatically unfair and strictly prohibited for any person to submit, commission, or publish any of the following on our Platforms:
2.1. Fake consumer reviews
A review is considered fake if it appears to be, but is not, based on a person's genuine experience. This includes, but isn't limited to:
-
A review submitted for a product that the reviewer has demonstrably not purchased or used.
-
A trader (or someone acting on their behalf) writing a review about their own products.
-
A review that is entirely fabricated or copied from another source.
2.2. Publishing reviews in a misleading way
We are committed to not publishing reviews or review information in a misleading way. This means:
-
Our promise (owned Platforms): For reviews we control (like Yotpo), we will not selectively filter, suppress, or hide genuine negative reviews.
-
Our commitment (all Platforms): We ensure that any aggregated scores or ratings we publicly quote or display are not distorted or influenced by fake, concealed incentivised, or misleading reviews that we know about.
3. How We Maintain Trust & Compliance
We take reasonable and proportionate steps to prevent and remove banned content from our Platforms. This process includes a combination of automated, manual, and public reporting mechanisms.
3.1. Verification and collection
-
Invited reviews (Yotpo/Trustpilot): We primarily request reviews via email only from customers who have made a purchase, ensuring a verified link to an order.
-
Organic reviews (Third-party sites): Organic reviews are verified by the requirements of the host site (e.g., Trustpilot/Product Review/Google requires login/account creation, which acts as a verification measure).
3.2. Detection, investigation and action
We have formal processes to actively manage potential banned content, tailored to the Platform:
|
Action Step |
Owned Platform (Yotpo) |
Moderation Access (Trustpilot, Product Review, Google Reviews) |
Organic Third-Party* (Amazon) |
|
Detection |
We regularly monitor and look for reviews that contain personal information or irrelevant content. The platform flags content with inappropriate language. |
We routinely monitor our official pages and look for reviews that violate our policy or the platform's terms. |
We monitor our pages, but rely heavily on the platform's own automated detection systems. |
|
Investigation |
A ticket is created for manual review and direct customer outreach to resolve issues. |
We investigate legitimacy by requesting further information from the reviewer directly via the platform (e.g., asking for an order number or account details). We then use the gathered evidence to support a removal request, if necessary. |
Limited to confirming the violation against our policy and the platform's terms. |
|
Action |
If a review is confirmed to be banned content, we will reject and remove it from publication on our website. |
We escalate the issue and submit a formal removal request to the platform's admin team, citing the relevant violation of their terms. We document this action as our reasonable step. |
We use the platform's official reporting/flagging mechanism to request review. We document this action as our reasonable step. |
We are aware that independent third-party websites or forums may feature reviews about our products or services that we do not own, operate, or actively monitor. We do not have the ability to moderate, verify, or remove content on these independent sites.
4. Your Rights & Responsibilities
4.1. Submitting a review
We encourage you to share your genuine experience. When you submit a review, you agree that your comments will comply with our Terms and Conditions, specifically including Section 14 (User Comments, Feedback & Other Submissions) and Section 18 (Prohibited Activities).
4.2. Reporting a concern
If you see a review on one of our Platforms that you suspect is fake, a concealed incentivised review, or otherwise misleading, please report it to us immediately at wedo@whogivesacrap.org so we can investigate and take the appropriate action (whether direct removal or a removal request to the third-party platform).
5. Version Control
This policy is subject to change as laws and regulations evolve. We will periodically review and update the policy to ensure it’s aligned with best practices and legal requirements.
